This week’s scripture is from John:

Jesus Christ -- Heinrich Hofmann“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life.'”     (John 6:35a)

God gave his people manna in the desert that they might live, but he has given us His Son, Jesus, as Lord and Savior, for Jesus is the bread of life who came down from heaven to bring life to the world that our hearts might not hunger or thirst again but for Him. For in Him is life, and for those that believe, life eternal. It was His body broken for us; it was His blood spilled for us; it was His life given for us that we might have the life that He gives. So let us take of the bread that is Christ Jesus and let us eat of it that we might acknowledge His sacrifice for us, for it is the Father who draws us and the Spirit who gives life.

May the Lord bless you with the life He gave for you.

Jesus triumphal entry2This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

“So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the [palm] trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’

Hosanna in the highest!”    (Matthew 21:6-9)

Praise the Lord. Raise your voice! The Lord is come. Blessed be His name. Shout Hallelujah! He is come! He is come! He is come! The Prince of Peace, the Lord of Salvation, the Lord of Lords is come and we are blessed. Glory to God in the Highest! Sing, cry out! Praise His holy name. The Lord reigns! Here is the Lord, the Holy One, the Son of God. Rejoice you saints. Raise your voice; raise your hands; lift your hearts. Praise the Lord! The Lord is come! The Lord is come! The Lord is come! Blessed be His name! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen.

May the blessing of the coming of the Lord fill your heart with joy.

This week’s scripture is from Revelation:

Jesus B&W“And they overcame [the accuser; the devil] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” (Rev. 12:11)

Even if we belong to the Lord, we often come under oppression from evil in the form of an affliction or temptation or illness. In these times we do not experience the full blessings the Lord has for us. Yet the Word of God tells us how to overcome the evil that can infiltrate our life. First be submitted to the Lord who gave Himself for us; be submitted under the shed blood of Christ, and be thankful for all He has done and continues to do in your life.

Then declare aloud the promises of God: I am a child of God, the Most High; I am a joint heir with Jesus in the kingdom of God; under the blood of Jesus, I am forgiven and set free from sin and all the plans of the evil one; I am a new creation in Jesus Christ, cleansed in His blood and righteousness; I am sanctified to be a blessing to others. Speak out your testimony of salvation and declare your authority under the blood of Christ. Command in Jesus’ name that evil depart and it will flee.

May the Lord embolden you to declare His promises and to overcome in His name.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Warfare Prayer“Worship the Lord in the beauty of [His] holiness.”   (Psalm 29.2b)

Come, let us worship the Lord; let us praise His name with songs and hymns; let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord; let us lift our hands to Him and call upon His Holy name. Let us come into worship with thanksgiving; let us thank Him for His mercy and grace; let us thank Him for His love and faithfulness; let us thank Him for His truth and righteousness. Let us thank Him most of all for sacrificing His son Jesus Christ that we might know salvation and have the right to come boldly before Him with praise and worship. Let us bow our hearts and our heads before His holiness and lift His name on high. Amen.

May the Lord bless you to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

This week’s scripture is from Deuteronomy:

jesus_white“…fear not, neither be discouraged.”   (Deut.1:21b)

When life becomes hard as a nail, when we are bearing a cross that is too hard for us to bear, we can wonder where the Lord is in our suffering and pain. When the money has run out and all is gone, the Lord can seem far away. When the diagnosis is not good and we need healing, but we don’t know if healing is going to come, we can wonder where the Lord is in our doubt and despair.

Yet the Lord does not forsake us, for in every circumstance no matter how hard, God is for us and not against us. He is there already. His love is already there; His strength is already there. Look to the Lord for He will look after you; trust in Him. Draw near to the Lord and let Him draw near to you. Listen to His heart, and He will give you peace.

May the Lord’s love bring you peace and strength.

This week’s scripture is from John:

jesus_white“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates  you.”  (John 15:19)

Let us remember to whom we belong, for if we belong to Christ then we no longer belong to this world, and it is no longer our home, but we are sojourners passing through this life unto eternal life to be at home with the Lord in heaven.

The world loves those who love the world, but if we belong to Him then we do not belong to the world and the world will hate us as it hates Him, for we are here to do the will of the One to whom we belong, the One who called us out of the world. For He sends us out into the world to spread the Good News, to speak the truth in love, to bring those who believe to Him who loves us. Let us take heart that we might truly follow Him, that we might be friends of Him who chose us to belong to Him.

May the Lord to whom you belong bless you to follow after Him.

This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

Warfare Prayer“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart” (Matt. 15:18a)

God is not concerned with the status or the learning or the wealth or the appearance of men and women for He looks only at the heart. He looks for those who are pure of heart for they are the people He wants and they are the people He can use to build His kingdom. He looks for the repentant. Let us strive to keep our hearts pure, for an impure heart will be betrayed by what our mouth speaks. When words are let fly they cannot be called back.

If there is wickedness or envy or unforgiveness in our heart, our mouth will speak badly of others and we will slander them. Our tongue can be an untamed fire, a viper, a weapon when turned against another, and this defiles us, for the Lord will not find us blameless if we speak ill of others. Let us get control of our tongue by purifying our hearts. Let us be repentant before the Lord and forgive those who may have themselves slandered us. Let us cleanse our hearts and speak in love.

May the Lord bless you to have a clean heart and to speak in love.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Man holding arms up in praise against a sunburst“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)

Let the old year pass away and let the new year come. As the new year begins it is an excellent time for renewal and refreshing with the Lord. The heart may be deceitful above all things, but our soul always wants to be right with the Lord. It yearns to be near Him and to be in His presence.

Let us prepare our hearts and minds; may the grace of repentance and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ cleanse us of all iniquity and rebellion. May the Lord extend His mercy to us and may He renew a right spirit within us that we might draw near to Him and dwell in His presence. Let us bow down and give ourselves to Him anew.

May the Lord bless you as you bow yourself before Him.

This week’s scripture is from Isaiah:

Mary -- Annunciation“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold a virgin shall be with child and give birth to a son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (God with us).    (Isaiah 7:14)

The Son of God come down to us as a child; O how great are the promises of God. How blessed we are, for the ancients knew the promise but did not see it come to pass, yet we live in the time of God’s favor; we have seen His grace and His salvation, for He sent His Son Jesus Christ to us that we might know Him, and through Him the blessings of His mercy and grace, unto life and life eternal. Glory to God, glory in the highest, for He is with us and we are forever blessed. Praise God Almighty; blessed be His name.

May the blessings of Our Lord Jesus Christ be yours this very day.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

Jesus is Risen“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”  (Romans 7:15)

Being spiritual or righteous does not come naturally to us. Thank the Lord He is loving and forgiving. We are not required to be sinless, for that would require perfect righteousness, and we are not capable of that. Whereas we might be able to control our actions, none can control every thought or every word.

What is required is repentance and asking forgiveness, for Christ shed His blood and died for us, then rose again that we might receive forgiveness from our Father in heaven. It is only by His love and grace that we are set free, and it is only by the Son of the living God that we are delivered from sin and death.

May the Lord bless you and deliver you.
