Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/11/18

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“I will praise you forever for what you have done;
in your name I will hope, for your name is good.
I will praise you in the presence of your saints.”
(Psalms 52:9)

Praise God, Praise God. In the midst of life’s ongoing trials and troubles, Praise God. For all He has done for us, Praise the Lord. It is so easy to be distracted by the difficulties we are facing that we can lose our focus on the One who is our strength and our ever-present help in times of trouble. Remember to call on Him and praise Him. Lift up your voice and praise the Lord, for He is good and all He does is good. Pray, praise, sing. Let His mercy and grace wash over you. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

May the Lord fill your heart with hope and joy as you raise your voice to praise Him.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.”
  (Psalm 33:11)

The generations come and the generations go; they plan and they strive to make their mark, but the plans of man are passing and his time is always short. Things go this way and that, back and then forth, up and then down, but God’s plans never waver; His timing is always perfect; everything happens at precisely the right time, in the right place, and in the right manner. His plans and His purposes are always fulfilled, and they never fail. Let us remember to always ask the Lord what His plans are for us before we make our own plans, for His plans will always be the best for us, because God’s plans come from God’s heart.

May the Lord bless you with a heart toward His heart.

This week’s scripture is from Colossians:

“Having disarmed principalities and powers [forces of evil], He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them [by the cross].”   (Colossians 2:15)

In this season that celebrates evil and pays homage to darkness, let us remember that Christ is the victor. Regardless of the sin in this world, regardless of the attacks of the enemy against us, regardless of the battles we are forced to wage, let us never forget that the devil is already defeated. The fight between good and evil, between God and Satan, is not in doubt. Jesus has already won, and won completely and decisively. When Christ went willingly to the cross where He suffered, bled, and died for us, then rose again from the grave, He destroyed the works of darkness; He declared victory over Satan, sin, evil, and death, once and for all. For Jesus is King, Jesus is Savior, Jesus is Lord. It is finished; He triumphed.

May the joy of the risen Lord be your strength this very day.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

“Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds…”   (Hebrews 10:23-24)

Ours is a living hope, a hope assured by faith in Jesus Christ. Our hope lies in God’s faithfulness; our hope lies in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We can hold fast our confession of hope and never doubt because God is completely faithful, completely trustworthy. His promises never fail; His word is always true. Let us therefore encourage each other to exhibit Christ’s love, to love our neighbors as ourselves, to love each other as He loved us, to shed His love abroad into the world through His word, to do deeds of righteousness for His namesake, to share our hope, to show His love by what we do for each other and for others.

May the Lord bless you with the assurance of His love and faithfulness.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Chronicles:

“Submit to the Lord …”    (2 Chron. 30:8)

Let us come before the Lord and bow down; let us surrender ourselves to His great love, for if we would belong to Him, if we would become His children and His disciples, we must surrender our lives to Him, and we must surrender everything. Let us submit every area of our life to Him; let us hold nothing back, but give it all to Him who loves us and gave Himself for us. Let us therefore repent of all that keeps us from Him, that which keeps us from prayer, that which keeps us from His word, that which keeps us from His presence: every distraction, every sin, every way in which we go our own way instead of going His way. Let us submit ourselves completely to His mighty love. Let us die to ourselves that we might live to Christ and His love.

May the Lord bless you to surrender to Him.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Peter:

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. (1 Peter 5:8b-9a)

Satan knows his time is short and he is filled with rage. It spills into the world as a tide of darkness and evil, rising against those who belong to the Lord. Wickedness comes out of the shadows and spiritual warfare is loosed upon God’s faithful. Yet let us remember Him who is faithful, and stand firm in Him. Let us call upon the name of the Lord and resist the devil. Let us take up the sword of the spirit, the word of God, and strike the enemy’s lies with truth and cut down his wickedness with Christ’s righteousness. Let us stand firm upon the rock of our salvation for He is our strength, our shield, and our rampart. Against the Lord, evil cannot stand; against His authority, evil must bow. Praise God and stand firm in the faith.

May the Lord bless you to stand firm in Christ.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”   (2 Cor. 10:4-5).

The Word reminds us that we are involved in warfare between good and evil, but the Lord does not leave us unarmed. Let us be mindful and encouraged that the weapons God has given us – worship, praise, and prayer – are powerful in the Lord, for what can stand against the Word and the might of the Lord. No stronghold of the enemy, no clever argument, nothing that exalts itself against the Lord can long stand, but we must also bring our own thoughts as prisoners so that they obey Christ, for in Christ we find the victory. Armor yourself and fight – speak the Word, sing His praises, pray and keep praying. Amen.

May the Lord strengthen you and bless you each day for the challenges placed before you.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Thessalonians:

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.  (2 Thess. 3:3)

Let us rejoice in the Lord, for He is the faithful one. He keeps His word from generation to generation. He does not change His word, but He speaks truth, and at His word the darkness trembles and is afraid. Call on Him and He will be there for you, for He does not forsake or leave His own, but He strengthens us with His word and reminds us of His love and His promises, which are yes and amen. The Lord does not leave us unprotected against the evil one, but His angels and His Holy Spirit will intercede for us and the Light of the Lord drives out the darkness and surrounds us with mercy and grace. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord Most High. Blessed be His holy name.

May the Lord bless you and make His light shine upon you.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“For the word of the LORD is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
The LORD loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.

“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”
  (Psalm 33:4-6)

Let us rededicate ourselves to reading the Word of God, for the Word is righteous, the Word is truth, the Word is a fount of life, a gift from God for guidance — for wisdom, for comfort, for joy, for peace, for praise, for protection, for inspiration, for healing; a blessing for the heart, for the mind, for the soul. The Word is the breath of God, the power of creation, the witness of salvation, the tongue of the Spirit, the revelation of eternal life, the everlasting love of the LORD. Thank God. Let us pray, “Open my heart and my mind to this your Word, O LORD, place it on my tongue, make it part of my very being, and let me speak love into the people and situations I encounter each day.”

May the Lord inspire you to open His word and walk in its blessings each and every day.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“If God be for us, who can be against us?”     (Romans 8:31b)

Many things in life may rise against us: troubles, hardship, illness. Work can become overwhelming, and deadlines unrelenting. Health can take a sudden turn; illness and injury can take a toll. Relationships can break down. For surely as we live these giants will challenge us. Yet let us remember what the scriptures teach us about when Goliaths rise up in our life. Though the outlook may seem dark and despair may try to take hold of us, we need to remember to whom we belong. We need to remember that we are a child of God, and He is for us and not against us, for God’s love is great and God’s love is powerful. Nothing in this life or this world can stop His love for us or stop His love from fulfilling its purpose in our life. Let us face our giants with Christ at our side for surely He fights for us and in Him we have the victory. For God gave His one and only son that we might never be separated from Him or the love of Jesus Christ. Amen.

May the love of the Lord be your strengthen this day and every day.
