Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/24/19

This week’s scripture is from Jeremiah:

“Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.” (Jeremiah 33:11)

Let us come before the Lord with thankful hearts and praise Him who loves us with an everlasting love. Thank the Lord who provides for all our needs and gives generously to all who come to Him. Let us bow down before Him and give thanks for the great and many blessings He has poured out upon us, for He provides for our every need and fills us with all that is good. Thank the Lord for sending His son Jesus Christ that we might know Him and the mercy of His grace. Let us praise God for He is good and all He does is good; let us give thanks to Him. Thanks be to God, the Lord Almighty, for all He has done.

May you be blessed as you come before the Lord with thanksgiving.

This week’s scripture is from Jeremiah:

“His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones.

I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot”   (Jeremiah 20:9b)

The word of God is true. The word of God is alive. The word of God endures forever. He has planted His word in our hearts. Let the word of God burn in your heart; let the breath of God fan the flames. His word is the word of truth, the sword of the Spirit. Call on the Holy Spirit to ignite your passion for Christ and let the fire burn in your bones. God grant you the grace to release the fire of His word into those He places before you that it may ignite a flame in them that will burn unto eternity. Hallelujah, Lord God Almighty.

May the flame of the word burn brightly within you as you speak it forth.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”

“So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!”    (Romans 7:15, 21-25)

O God, we need you. Every day we need you. How impossible it is to be always righteous, to maintain righteous thoughts, to keep a pure heart, to act righteously in all circumstances. How imperfect we are, and how frustrating that is. Unrighteousness and sin plague us. Thank God we have a righteous King who is perfect and who made a perfect sacrifice for us, who forgives us of all unrighteousness and sin, who sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. We are powerless against sin, but He has overcome, and the blood of Christ Jesus washes us clean. O thank you, Lord. Hallelujah!

May the Lord bless you; may Christ’s blood cover you, and may praise be upon your lips.

This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

“Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”  (Matt. 4:1-4)

As we wait upon the Lord and anticipate His return, troubles and temptations arise against all who belong to Him, but the Lord is not troubled; He is not tempted. He speaks the truth; He takes up the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, and He strikes down the attacks of the enemy. Let us too take up the sword of the Spirit and boldly proclaim the Word. Quote the scriptures; speak truth to the lies of the enemy; pray in the Spirit; speak and stand on the word of God. Wield the sword in the power of His might and the enemy must give way before the reign and authority of the Lord Almighty. Thank God that He does not leave us defenseless, but we are armed with truth sharper than any blade. Praise God; bless His holy name.

May the Lord bless you to take up the sword of the Spirit and cut down the enemy with the word of truth.
