Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 10/27/19

October 28, 2019

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
   (Psalm 18:1-2)

Oh, what a Savior! Our Lord is everything, everything we need or ever will need. When we have no strength, He is our strength. When we cannot stand, He is our rock, our foundation, a fortress against the forces that come against us. When we could not deliver ourselves from sin and death eternal, He came as our deliverer to free us from sin and death, to give us life eternal. What a magnificent God is our God! He shields us in the day of battle; He is our strong salvation; He is our Lord, God Almighty, in whom we trust. Blessed be the name of our Lord God!

May your love for the Lord be your strength as you trust in Him.

The week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”    (2 Cor. 13:14)

We know that it is only by God’s unmerited favor and compassion shown to us through His son Jesus Christ that we are forever saved. Because of His ever loving-kindness and mercy, in spite of this fallen world, in spite of ourselves, God gives us grace. He shows us His love through the sacrifice of His one and only son; such love is sacrificial grace. To truly have love for and fellowship with others we must love others above ourselves: we must serve others without expectation of return; we must have the grace to love without being loved in return. Share His grace with those He sends you to, share His love and mercy.

May the Lord give you the gift of being able to be gracious and loving to all around you.

This week’s scripture is from Lamentations:

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”   (Lam. 3:22-23)

The Lord is merciful. The Lord is faithful. The Lord is compassionate. Regardless of afflictions or troubles that come against us, regardless of the past or what the world has thrown at us, regardless of the evil or unrighteousness that rises against us, we can throw ourselves on the Lord’s mercy for His great love is always there for us. No matter how dark the night has been, no matter how hard the fight, every morning new mercies we see, for the Son of God is risen, for “great is thy faithfulness” of our Lord. The Lord is faithful in what He says, in what He does, and in all His promises. Thank the Lord for His loving-kindness.

May the mercies of the Lord attend your prayers each day and bring blessings upon you.

This week’s scripture is from Exodus:

“The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him…”
(Exodus 15:2)

In this world we can grow weary; our bodies grow tired; the enemy of our soul wears us down. Yet we must keep standing; we must stand. So where does our strength come from? It comes from the Lord. Yes, the Lord God Almighty, King of Heaven and Earth and all the universe. For we are weak, but He is strong; He is our salvation and our shield. He never grows weary; He never tires; He has defeated Satan. He is our God and we should praise Him; He is our loving Father and we should exalt Him. Sing praises to the Lord, for He inhabits the praises of His people; draw near to Him and He will strengthen you.

May the Lord bless you with His strength this very day as you exalt Him with praise.
