Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 04/29/18

April 30, 2018

This week’s scripture is from Deuteronomy:

“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long …”   (Deut. 33:12)

We know the Lord is our light and our salvation, and we can rest in His love. Regardless of our troubles or those things that rise against our peace and security, if we belong to the Lord then He will be our peace; He will be our shield. Whatever rises against us in the natural or the spiritual must bow before the Lord, for the Lord loves and protects His own and His love overcomes all that can come against us if we give ourselves into His hands and rest in His love. Let us remember to come and bow our hearts before the Lord who loves us, and pray and call upon His name and He will keep you safe and secure in His love.

May the Lord bless you to rest secure in His love for you.

This week’s scripture is from John:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”   (John 16:33)

The Lord did not promise us a trouble-free life. He knew that this fallen world can be a dark and troublesome place, where we find ourselves struggling against the darkness and the pain of suffering, sin, injury, and want. Try as we might we have not the power to overcome, but the Lord does, for He took the weight of sin and death upon Himself, and by His sacrifice, by His blood, death, and resurrection, He did overcome the world. He has defeated the darkness; He has triumphed; He is victorious, and in Him we can have peace. Let us rejoice and be glad, for we can have peace through our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise His holy name.

May the Lord bless you today with an abiding peace.

This week’s scripture is from Isaiah:

“You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.”
 (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Each day has trouble enough of its own, Jesus reminded us, and it is all too easy to be in turmoil trying to deal with the situations and problems that keep peace from our door. Yet the Lord tells us that we should not dwell on problems, but we should keep our minds on Him. We should place all of our trust in Him no matter what is happening in the world or what is happening in our own lives, for only in the Lord, and in Him alone, is there peace. Let us allow our heart to trust Him and our mind to be steadfast, for He who loves us and gave Himself for us is He who is able, for He is for us, He is forever, eternal, and He can make a way when there is no way. Trust our Lord, our Savior, our Deliverer. Praise His Holy Name.

May your heart and mind remain steadfast because you are trusting in the Lord.

This week’s scripture is from Proverbs:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”
(Prov. 3:5-6)

When difficult days come, and trying circumstances are upon us, our own understand is often not enough. Our strength and our wisdom can fail, but we know that we can trust in the Lord with all our heart, for He does understand and His strength never fails. If we acknowledge Him and give ourselves into His hands He will be the lifter of our head, and He will direct our paths and show us the way we should go. Let us therefore call upon Him who loves us and gave Himself for us, and trust in the Lord God Almighty.

May you trust the Lord with all of your heart in all things.

Happy Easter!  This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, [just] as He said.” (Matthew 28:5-6)

He is risen, He is risen, He is risen! Thank God, thank God, thank God Almighty. Jesus Christ is risen; He is alive. He sacrificed Himself that we might be reconciled to God our Father, that we might know Him and the mercy of His grace, for He is the bread of life, the Holy One, the Son of God; He sealed the new covenant in His blood that we might have the forgiveness of our sins, that we might have salvation and eternal life. Thank you Lord Jesus. How blessed we are to know His love and the beauty of His grace.

May the blessings of the Lord’s sacrifice strengthen you as you follow in His ways.
