Strengthen and Encouraget the Brethren 11/27/16

November 28, 2016

This week’s scripture is from Isaiah:

jesus_white“Prepare the way for the Lord;”

“And the glory of the Lord will be revealed.”     (Isaiah 40:3a;5a)

Come, let us prepare our hearts for a season of joy and celebration in remembrance of the coming of our Lord and Savior. Let us rejoice at the advent of the Promised One, His coming foretold so long ago, the glorious prophecy, fulfilled by our loving Father.

Let us prepare our hearts by refreshing our hope in Him in whom all grace, all mercy, all faithfulness, all love, and all righteousness rests. Let us fill our hearts with the hope that is in Jesus Christ and His coming, and prepare to share that hope with as many as the Lord allows. Let us prepare to be generous with the love He has given us. Prepare your heart, and rejoice!

May the joy of the Lord and the love of Christ fill your heart to overflowing.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Praying Hands“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”    (Psalm 107:1)

Let us praise God from whom all blessings flow, for every good thing comes from the hand of God. How great and how many are His blessings poured out upon us. Let us give thanks to Him who provides for all our needs and gives generously to all who come to Him. How rich and how loving are the things that the Lord gives to those who love Him. Let us bow down and give thanks for the gift of His son, Jesus Christ, who sacrificed Himself for us, and who brought us salvation and eternal life through His blood, death, and resurrection. How great is His love toward us. Let us give thanks to Him, and let us praise His holy name.

May your lips praise the Lord and thank Him for His unmatchable love.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Jesus Christ risen“For God is the King of all the earth … God reigns over the nations.”   (Psalm 47:7,8)

In these days, in these times, it is easy to look at the world and the rise of evil and know despair. We see countries in chaos as people clash in the streets; we see war and terrorism spreading even into peaceful nations. Yet in all of this, the Lord stands fast. Let us remember Him who is sovereign over all the earth and all peoples; let us remember who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The rulers of the earth make their plans, but it is the Lord who reigns, and it is He who governs the lives of people and nations. He is the one who allows nations to rise and fall, and it is He who will bring in the end time harvest, for in all things the Lord’s will, will be done, and He will be exalted above the heavens and the earth, forever.

May your lips sing praises to the Lord God Most High.

This week’s scripture is from Deuteronomy: Jesus risen

“The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”   (Deut. 13:8 HCSB)

Sometimes it is difficult to see or to know the way forward. It can be hard at times to see the path ahead when we can see only obstacles and roadblocks or are hindered by darkness. Sometimes it seems as if there just is no way to move on, or we become fearful of making the wrong choice on which way to go. It can bring us to a standstill or even force us backwards.

But when we put the Lord first in our life, when we put every situation in His hands, we need not be concerned, for the Lord always knows which direction we should go. If we will ask His guidance and follow Him, He will never lead us astray nor get us lost. Let us remember that we are His followers, and let us follow Him, wherever He leads us, for He loves us, and He has promised that He will never leave us, for we belong to Him; we are His and He is our loving God.

May the Lord bless you with His love and assurance.
