Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 07/24/16

This week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

Man holding arms up in praise against a sunburst“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” (2 Cor. 13:11)

In these days of uncertainty and strife, we can at times feel troubled and quite alone, but if we are in Christ Jesus, if we are a child of God and we belong to Him, then we are not alone, for in Christ we have a world of brothers and sisters as well as our heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit, for we know that He will never, never leave us or forsake us. Let us therefore be comforted and remember to encourage ourselves and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Let us remember each day to love one another and to pray for each other. Let us not neglect to call upon the Lord everyday for all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

May the Lord encourage you each day to pray and keep praying.

This week’s scripture is from Philippians:jesus_white

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  (Phil. 2:9-11)

Let us be clear in our minds and in our hearts in this day of conflicting theologies and beliefs: There is only one God Almighty, God the Father of heaven and earth and all the universe; and there is only one Son of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us by dying on the cross and rising again that we might be reconciled to God and have eternal life, for there is only one name by which we must be saved and it is the name that is above all names, the name of Jesus. At His name every angel and spirit in heaven, every living thing on earth, and every fallen being will bow and confess that He is Lord. Let there be no doubt: He alone is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. To God be the glory. Amen.

May your heart be steadfast and true confessing Jesus Christ as Lord.

This week’s scripture is from Jeremiah:

Jesus Christ risen“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”    (Jeremiah 29:11)

Life does not always go as planned. Regardless of how carefully we plan, life can take unexpected turns and things can go suddenly awry. We might find ourselves at a loss or at a crossroads and not know what to do, but the Lord knows; He always knows, and His plans never fail.

If we belong to Him, then our lives should be given into His hands, and our plans for our life should be His plans for our life, for God’s plans are always for whatever is best for us, whatever will help us and draw us closer to Him, whatever will make us more like Christ. For God is good and all He does is good. Let us remember to always seek Him first before we make our plans, for He is our provision, and in Him is our hope and our future, in Christ.

May you be open to the Lord’s leading in your life, for your life.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

Jesus risen“…through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”    (Romans 8:2)

Freedom is a great blessing and independence is valued, but true freedom comes not from the world of man but from Christ, for He came to set the captives free. Those who are still bound by sin are not free, and those who are subject to death that comes from sin are not free, but if we are free in Christ, free from the law of sin and death, we have the Spirit of Life and we are truly free. It is a great mystery that the more dependence we have on Christ the more free we are; the more we bind ourselves to Him the freer we will be, but it is the law of the Holy Spirit, the law of God, and we are His, made free by His sacrifice. Thank God.

May gratitude flow from the freedom you have in Christ Jesus.
