Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 06/26/16

This week’s scripture is from Ephesians:

Praying Hands…be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”  (Eph. 6:18b)

We are a people called to prayer, for the Lord calls us to prayer. Jesus often prayed and He taught his disciples how to pray. Let us also be praying and interceding in prayer for our loved ones and for our brothers and sisters in Christ, for many are in need of prayer and intercession. We need to be praying for each other; we need to be partners in prayer, supporting each other in prayer. Let us be faithful to pray and to listen to the Lord, for our Lord is faithful to answer our prayers. Let us learn to pray continually to Him to whom we belong. Pray for those in need, each according to their need. Pray in His mighty name.

May the Lord place prayers upon your lips as you lift your voice to Him.

This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

Noah preaching2As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.  (Matt. 24:37)

As dark events cloud our times and violence has broken loose spreading across the earth, and what is good is being called evil and what is perverse is being accepted as right, we can see the days of Noah approaching again. Moral restraint has lost its moorings and the peoples are turning away from the truth to do what is right in their own eyes. But let us not lose heart for these things are the harbingers that say the time of Christ’s return is drawing near. May the Lord grant that we not be overcome by evil, and may we remain faithful and true to Him who loves us and has brought us salvation. Let us rejoice in Him to whom we belong and let us be diligent in our calling to speak the truth in love until the day He comes.

May the Lord be your light in the darkness.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

Jesus is Risen“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…”  (Hebrews 12:1b)

Though we are to keep our eyes on Jesus as we work out our salvation, each of us has our own path which He has put us on, and each runs the race God has set. Some roads have many ups and downs, even valleys and mountain tops; some have long, long stretches over long, long distances; some have roads with many twists and turns, and some have unexpected detours or delays. We may not know what is around the next bend or over the next hill, but we know if we are following Christ, He is there ahead of us and we can keep going. Therefore, let us persevere, for though each life is different and each road is different, all that travel with Christ reach the same goal; let us run with Christ the race He set out for us.

May the Lord renew your strength to run the race.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Jesus Christ risenBut I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”   (Psalm 31:14)

If the Lord Almighty is our God, if we belong to Him, then let our trust be in Him, for there is nothing in this world or this life that we can trust like we can trust the Lord. For if we trust in money it will become our god; if we trust in government it will subject us; if we trust in man, we will be disappointed; if we trust in work, it will not be our salvation; if we trust in our own strength it will fail us; if we trust in our wisdom we will be made fools; if we trust in anything below heaven, it will leave us lost.

There is only One who is worthy of our trust, who never fails, who is always faithful and true, whose love and mercy and grace are beyond anything we need or hope for in this life or the next. Let us declare who it is that we trust in; let us say to Him, “You are my God.” Let us give ourselves fully to Him and rest in the truth of His unfailing love.

May the Lord bless you as you put your trust in Him.
