This week’s scripture is from James:

Jesus Christ 4“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”   (James 4:10)

If we believe in Him whom we would belong to, we cannot allow ourselves to straddle the fence. We must decide who will rule our heart, who will sit in charge of our life. If we rule our heart, then He does not; if we are in charge of our life, then He is not. If He is Lord of our life, then we must humble ourselves beneath His mighty love and submit ourselves to God. We must give our heart to Him and let Him rule over us; we need to get out of the way so He can direct our life, for His way is always the best way and His love for us is unfailing. Let us therefore humble ourselves before His mighty love and give ourselves into His hands; let us trust Him to watch over us and take care of us, for He is our loving God and we are His children.

May the Lord bless you as you humble yourself to His mighty love.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Samuel:

“…there is no Rock like our God.”    (1 Sam. 2:2b)

Montana de Oro Feb 2008 054We often struggle when the storms of life break over us. When hardship or illness or mishaps drive us down it can be hard to stand against the onslaught of troubles and rise above them. We often become battered or even broken by the pounding and fury of the storm, and may despair or lose hope. Yet none of these things are greater than our God, for He is our Rock and our salvation. Let us run to the Rock and find refuge from our troubles and shelter from the storm, for the storms that would batter us and the waves that would drown us break against the Rock, and the winds of adversity cannot move Him. Let us then hide ourselves in the cleft of the Rock where we will be safe and find peace as the storm passes by.

May the Lord bless you to hide yourself in Him and in His love.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

Jesus Christ 4For all the promises of God are yes in [Christ]…   (2 Cor. 1:20)

When the world and life are too much with us, when the weight of the world is pressing down upon us and the cares of life are too many, it is good to remember the promises of God. He promises He has plans for us for good, for a future and a hope; He promises that when we are weary and burdened He will give us rest; He promises that those who trust in the Lord will find new strength; He promises He will supply all our needs from His glorious riches given to us in Christ.

His Word  promises that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love; He promises that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead we will be saved; He promises He will never leave us or forsake us. How good are the promises of God. Praise Him and speak them aloud over yourself.

May the Lord bless you to lean upon His promises and trust in Him.

This week’s scripture is from Isaiah:

Jesus risen“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.”  (Isaiah 40:28)

The world can be a weary place for us. Day in and day out our lives seem constantly on the go and sometimes we can hardly keep up. The demands of life keep demanding our attention, and there are days when it just doesn’t seem to make much sense and we wonder where to turn. But not so for the Lord, the creator of the heavens and the earth and all the universe, for He is never weary or tired; He is never confused or wondering what to do next, for He is God Almighty, and it all belongs to Him. We too belong to Him. Let us remember that He is our strength and that everything is in His hands, including us. Let us not lean on our own strength and understanding, but let us lean on His strength and understanding.

May the Lord bless you to lean on Him, the everlasting God.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

jesus_white“The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them…”    (Psalm 37:39-40a)

God sees things from an eternal perspective and He does not change His laws or ways. When the nation kept sinning and breaking God’s laws, and God’s patience was running out, He would punish His people, Israel, by saddling them with an evil king who had little regard for God and who would pervert the laws and ways of God. If the people did not learn and repent of their sins, then that king would be followed by another one just as bad, and sin and corruption would continue. Yet to those who belonged to Him, God remained true. Though they too had to suffer the hardships brought by evil, those who trusted in Him, God stood beside. Those who had faith, God delivered. Let us have faith in Him to whom we belong.

May the Lord bless you to stand strong in Him in these days.
