Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 04/24/16

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

Oak acorns B&W“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”   (Hebrews 11.1)

For the Lord said if we but have faith the size of a mustard seed, then nothing would be impossible. Faith is knowing; faith is trusting. Faith is not wishing and being unsure what will happen. If we scatter seed it will grow. We do not hope seeds will grow, we know seeds grow. That is what they do. What is more, we know that if we plant a mustard seed, then a mustard plant will grow. If we plant an acorn a mighty oak will grow. The tree is already in the seed. The Lord already put it there. We must know that we know and forsake doubt; we must know and have faith that what we know is what is true and it will happen as the Lord wills it to happen. Faith is believing in what we know. Faith is knowing without having to see the tree.

May the Lord bless you with an abiding faith in Him.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Jesus Christ risen“Blessed are those who have learned to [praise] you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.”  (Psalm 89:15)

Let us lift our hearts and shout aloud to the Lord and praise His holy name. Let the praises from your lips make a joyful noise unto the Lord and bring you into His presence. May you practice the presence of the Lord and come into the light of His countenance. Draw near to the Lord that He might draw near to you. Enter in to the Lord’s presence with thanksgiving and praise and worship. Let the joy of the presence of the Lord be a blessing to you. Let His face shine upon you and give you peace. May the light of the Lord’s presence be the light in your life and may the blessings of praising the Lord forever bless your life.

May you come into the light of the Lord’s presence as you praise Him.

This week’s scripture is from John:

Jesus Christ -- Heinrich Hofmann“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life.'”     (John 6:35a)

God gave his people manna in the desert that they might live, but he has given us His Son, Jesus, as Lord and Savior, for Jesus is the bread of life who came down from heaven to bring life to the world that our hearts might not hunger or thirst again but for Him. For in Him is life, and for those that believe, life eternal. It was His body broken for us; it was His blood spilled for us; it was His life given for us that we might have the life that He gives. So let us take of the bread that is Christ Jesus and let us eat of it that we might acknowledge His sacrifice for us, for it is the Father who draws us and the Spirit who gives life.

May the Lord bless you with the life He gave for you.

This week’s scripture is from Philippians:

Jesus risen“…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”     (Phil. 1:6)

Thank the Lord for His salvation; thank Him that we can come to Him each day and bow before Him to seek His face and ask forgiveness when we stumble or fall. How frustrating it can be, though we try our best to be righteous, to be shown our shortcomings and spiritual imperfections. Yet the Lord who loves us, the one who began a good work in us, is not finished with us and He will continue His work in us until the day that Christ returns. Let us not then lose heart or turn away, but let us run to Him who knows us better than we know ourselves and still loves us; let us turn to Him who forgives our shortcomings and who is working to perfect us in Christ. Let us praise Him and thank Him; let us worship and bow down.

May the Lord bless you with His mercy and grace.
