This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

jesus_white“I lift up my eyes to the hills—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.”               (Psalm 121:1-2)

There is only one we can turn to who can help us in every situation and every circumstance no matter how dire, no matter how troublesome. Where the things of man fail and the ways of the world hold no answers and little help, He is the one to whom we can and should always turn, for the Lord already knows about our troubles and He alone knows the way to salvation and freedom. The Lord alone is the One to whom we can go, for He is already with us and He will not abandon His own. So lift up your eyes to Him to whom you belong; look upon Him and worship Him and give Him praise. See that He is there for you.

May you remember to always turn your heart to the Lord who loves you.

This week’s scripture is from Matthew:

Jesus Christ -- Heinrich Hofmann“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   (Matt. 28:20b)

The Lord is with us when things are good, and the Lord is with us when things are not so good. Whether we succeed or fail, whether we rise or fall, whether we are in good health or suffering, whether we are whole or broken, whether we are living or dying, the Lord is with us; He will never leaves us. When we belong to the Lord there is never a time when He is not with us, for there is nothing in this world, nothing in this life, or in the next, that can separate us from God. For we are firmly in the Father’s grip and He will never let us go, for we are His beloved children and God is always good, for He loves us till the very end.

May you always know that the Lord loves you and is with you.

This week’s scripture is from Luke:

Jesus Christ 4“Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)

How difficult, how challenging, it can be to love others as much as we love ourselves, to love them like God loves them, to love unconditionally. Certainly it is easy to love those who love us and to love those like us. Of course we love our wife or husband, but the Lord’s command to love is not speaking of love in a romantic sense. He does not command us to love like lovers.

The Lord’s command to love is not so much about feeling. It is an act of the heart, yes, but it is an act of the will. Did we show our love by serving? Did we visit the sick? Did we feed the hungry? Did we give drink to the thirsty? Did we clothe those who needed clothes? Did we do for the least of them without thought of self or compensation or gratitude, but from the heart, from a heart set on God, to do as Christ would have done? Did we love?

May the Lord give you a heart to love others as He loves you.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Samuel:

Jesus Christ“For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  (1 Sam. 16:7b)

The things of this world grow dim in God’s eyes; He does not see things the way we see them, and He does not consider things important we might consider important. God cares not what we appear like: how tall we are, how pretty or how handsome, how youthful we look or how wise, how rich or poor. All of our striving for notice or success mean little to nothing to the Lord.

Even what we do for Him is counted as dross when compared to our heart, for God judges not by human standards; He judges the heart. Let us have a heart toward God and let us be true in our hearts to love the Lord and His righteousness, to love His son who came to save us from ourselves and from this world. Let us love the Lord with all our heart, all our strength, all our mind, and all our soul. Let the Lord work in us a pure heart, one purified by Him.

May you prepare your heart before the Lord, who loves you.

This week’s scripture is from James:

jesus_white“As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered.”   (James 5:11a)

In these days with the rise of apostasy and wickedness it is more important than ever that we persevere in faith. In a time where the world is turning over, where licentiousness is called tolerance, where what is evil is called good, where what is sin is called choice, where lies are called truth, where righteousness is scorned and depravity is celebrated, those who belong to the Lord must not waiver in standing for the truth of God’s word and the righteousness of Christ. Let us not compromise God’s divine truth with the shallow wisdom of man. Such seasons come and such seasons go, but the Word of God stands forever true and unchanging. Let us stand and be counted with God; let us stay in His blessing and in His love.

May the Lord bless you to persevere in truth in these days.
