This week’s scripture is from 1 John:

Open Bible 2008 rev“I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.”   (1 John 2:21)

In these days when deceit and lies and false religion abound and what is unseemly or perverse is seen as acceptable, it is good to have the truth, for the truth does not change; the truth does not falter; the truth never becomes a lie; the truth is always true. There is one and only one who is the truth and that is Jesus Christ our Lord; He is the Truth.

In Him there is no lie; there is no deceit; there is no turning; there is no changing. He is true; He is steadfast; He is righteous. His word is truth. In Him there is nothing false, nothing lacking, nothing wanting. He is the living word and every word of His is truth. If you know Him then you know the truth. Be in truth, live in the truth, stand on the truth, rely on the truth, love the truth.

May the Lord bless you to seek the truth and live in the truth.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Warfare Prayer“Worship the Lord in the beauty of [His] holiness.”   (Psalm 29.2b)

Come, let us worship the Lord; let us praise His name with songs and hymns; let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord; let us lift our hands to Him and call upon His Holy name. Let us come into worship with thanksgiving; let us thank Him for His mercy and grace; let us thank Him for His love and faithfulness; let us thank Him for His truth and righteousness. Let us thank Him most of all for sacrificing His son Jesus Christ that we might know salvation and have the right to come boldly before Him with praise and worship. Let us bow our hearts and our heads before His holiness and lift His name on high. Amen.

May the Lord bless you to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Shaver Lake, CAHe makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside [still] waters,  he refreshes my soul.   (Psalms 23:1-3)

In the rush of the world and daily life, it is easy to get lost in all the activity and noise. It can be difficult not to be overwhelmed, and to keep close to the Lord and not lose sight of what is actually important. Our soul can become strained and weary with all the hubbub and hassle around us; the weariness can seem to soak into our bones and drag on us like an anchor.

Yet that is when we need to be listening to the Lord, for He calls to us; He calls us to His creation, for in it He has created such beauty and such peace that just being in the presence of His wondrous creation and soaking in the beauty and majesty of mountains or meadows, lakes or streams, forests or seacoasts can refresh and restore our soul. We need at times to get away to where we can rest under the expanse of stars and sky and breath deep its beauty.

May the majesty of the Lord’s creation refresh your soul.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

Jesus Christ risen“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”         (2 Cor. 3:17)

To be truly free we must be free in the Lord, for the Spirit of the Lord is what makes us truly free; therefore we must belong to the Lord and have His Spirit in us. The covenant of the law brought condemnation, but the covenant in Jesus Christ brings freedom from condemnation and allows us to sit not under the law, but to sit in righteousness before the Lord, for by His Spirit we are transformed into His image, and by His Spirit we are given life, and in the next life, life eternal. So do not lose heart or grow weary in the confines of this life, but take on the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Faith, and be free in the Lord who loves you.

May the Spirit of the Lord bless you with the freedom of His love.
