This week’s scripture is from Mark:

Jesus triumphal entry2“Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spreadthem on the road. Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”    (Mark 11:7-10)

Praise the Lord; raise your voice! The Lord is come; blessed be His name. Shout Hallelujah! He is come! He is come! He is come! The Prince of Peace, the Lord of Salvation, the Lord of Lords, is come and we are blessed. Glory to God in the Highest! Sing, cry out! The Lord reigns! Here is the Lord, the Holy One, the Son of God. Rejoice you saints. Raise your voice; raise your hands; lift your hearts. Praise the Lord! The Lord is come! The Lord is come! Blessed be His name!

May the blessing of the coming of the Lord bless your heart with joy.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

man in praise  “My soul thirsts for you;

    My flesh longs for you

In a dry and thirsty land

Where there is no water.”   (Psalm 63:1b)

When our soul is languishing in a dry and thirsty place, when it seems a desert separates us from the Lord, and our heart is desolate and aching for Him, only God can fulfill our spiritual thirst. Nothing in this world can satisfy that thirst. No amount of drink or drug, no amount of sex or thrills, no amount of work or distraction, no amount of buying or selling, no amount of ritual or pleasure can quench the power of the thirst for more of God, for He and He alone has what our soul needs.

When the very air we breathe has become dry as dust and our spirit is withered as a winter leaf, we need to immerse ourselves in the Lord, for He is the living water, He is the water of life; we need to drink of Him and drink deeply, and let His life make our soul live again as it is meant to live: refreshed, cleansed, and filled with new life in Christ.

May He who is Living Water bring you new life this very day.

This week’s scripture is from Philippians:

Jesus Christ“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”    (Philippians 4:6)

How important it is to spend time in prayer. How easy it is to allow our troubles to distract us from prayer and to be plagued with anxious thoughts, to worry about our situation and to despair about tomorrow. When it seems that things will never get better we need to stop and turn to the Lord, for the Lord is able, and where there does not seem to be a way, the Lord can make a way, and where all seems lost, the Lord can be found.

Let us take hold and trust the Lord, for nothing can happen to us that He cannot handle for us. Let us trust in Him to whom we belong and let us praise Him and give thanks that in every situation He is with us; let us go to Him in prayer and seek His face that we might find our peace in Him.

May the Lord bless you as you pray and give Him thanks in every circumstance.

This week’s scripture is from Philippians:

Jesus Christ 3“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”    (Phil. 4:8)

Though we’ve given our hearts to Jesus, the battle over our thoughts is often a daily struggle, for we live in a world bombarded with talk and news and images that continually threaten to corrupt our thinking and hinder our walk with the Lord. How often we might despair when wicked thoughts enter in through gossip or rumor or reports of evil in the world or when disturbing or impure images are seen or when we allow loose or angry thoughts.

Let us not despair; let us instead have the mind of Christ — to whom we belong, and in whom is all truth, all righteousness, all that is good and pure. Let us stay close to Him in prayer,  thanksgiving, and praise, and stay daily in His Word and in the truth. For it is only in Christ that we overcome in the battle for our thoughts, and in Christ receive blessing and peace in our hearts and minds.

May you this day and every day adopt the mind of Christ and know blessing and peace.

This week’s scripture is from John:

jesus_white“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates  you.”  (John 15:19)

Let us remember to whom we belong, for if we belong to Christ then we no longer belong to this world, and it is no longer our home, but we are sojourners passing through this life unto eternal life to be at home with the Lord in heaven.

The world loves those who love the world, but if we belong to Him then we do not belong to the world and the world will hate us as it hates Him, for we are here to do the will of the One to whom we belong, the One who called us out of the world. For He sends us out into the world to spread the Good News, to speak the truth in love, to bring those who believe to Him who loves us. Let us take heart that we might truly follow Him, that we might be friends of Him who chose us to belong to Him.

May the Lord to whom you belong bless you to follow after Him.
