Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 01/26/14

January 27, 2014

This week’s scripture is from John:

Fountain-House-of-Prayer2[Jesus said] “…whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”    (John 4:14)

The water we drink helps replenish our body, but after awhile we will be thirsty again. Only Jesus, the Son of the living God, can satisfy our thirst completely, for He gives us living water with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When we drink in the deep waters of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, the water of life comes to cleanse us, to quench our thirst, to overflow on those who He sends us to, and to carry us to eternal life.

The living water flows from the river of God; it is a great current that underflows all life. When we tap into the Word and the Holy Spirit, the living water wells up like an underground spring that fills us up, that restores and refreshes us, and forever rises up to eternal life in Christ. Drink deep from the living water; let the Word and the Holy Spirit wash you in the water of life and ever satisfy your thirst in Him.

May you drink in the living water of God and never thirst again.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Open Bible 2008 rev“Strengthen me according to Your word.”  (Psalm 119:28b)

It is important to be in the word; to immerse ourselves in God’s word, for it is life for our souls and a light for our path. We should take up the word each day and drink in the living water found there, and let it fill our thoughts and flood our hearts to overflowing, for the One who sent it is true and His word is the word of truth.

The word is a treasure house of knowledge and revelation, full of grace and mercy. Salvation comes by the hearing of the word, for Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the word made flesh and His words are the words of life, and the way of truth. Thank God for His word; praise God for His son, the living word.

May the Lord bless you to take up His word and be refreshed each day.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

Jesus Christ -- Heinrich Hofmann“…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”   (Hebrews 12:2a)

He is the One and the only one. Jesus is the very center of our faith and our belief. It all begins and ends with Him and Him alone. Everything else is that which is besides Him. He is the very Son of God, the Holy One; He is the Word incarnate come down to rescue us from sin and death, to reconcile us to the Father. Beside Him there is no other.

He is the living Word, the foundation of all that has been and will be. In Him we live and have our being as children of the Most High God. He is the beginning and the end, the Eternal One. He was and is and will be. He is all truth, all faith, all mercy, and all grace. He is the All in All. Look to Jesus; look to Him in every circumstance and in every situation. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

May the Lord bless you to always keep your eyes on Jesus.

This week’s scripture comes from Revelation:

Man holding arms up in praise against a sunburstThen He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”   (Rev. 21:5a)

Our God is in heaven and He reigns in righteousness and holiness. In Him is all goodness and mercy, and everything that is true and ever will be. In Him all is light and there is no darkness. God makes everything new through Jesus Christ, His son. In Christ we are a new creation, and we are restored to our Father in heaven.

We are now a new person, for the old person is dead in sin and trespasses, but in Him we have new life — a new spirit, a new heart, a new promise, a new hope, a new future — for He is ever with us. Renew yourself in the Lord and bow before His throne. Worship Him and let Him make you anew. Praise the Lord for renewing your life. Praise Him for His mercy and grace.

May the Lord Almighty bless you anew this day and each day in this year to come.
