Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/24/13

November 25, 2013

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Jesus Christ 4“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.”
  (Psalm 107:1)

Give thanks to the Lord; give thanks for His great and many blessings. The goodness of the Lord is all about us; His goodness surrounds the lives of those who belong to Him. He provides for our every need; He makes a way where there is no way. He loves us and He cares for us. His promises are yea and amen; His mercies, seen and unseen, are new each morning. He satisfies the hungry heart and fills the thirsty spirit. He upholds our lives with His love and sends us His salvation in His mercy. He walks with us each day toward eternity with Him. Give thanks to the Lord; give thanks for His great and many blessings.

May your heart rise within you to give thanks to the Lord for His mercies and blessings.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Jesus Christ 3“Show me your ways, LORD,
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.”
 (Psalm 25:4-5)

Every day the Lord has more blessings for us. Never will there come a time when we cannot learn from our Lord, for God is our Father and we are ever His children. His ways are higher than our ways and His path is the better path. Let us call on the Lord to lead and guide us every day and in every circumstance in our life, for He knows the way we should go and the path we should take for every situation. His way is the way of truth, the way of salvation, and the way of hope. Let us trust in the Lord our God and in His word, and let us not forget every morning to bring our day before Him in prayer and in thanksgiving.

May the Lord teach you His ways and bless you in the truth.

This week’s scripture is from John:

OrionThroneRoom“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…”       (John 16:13)

Truth often seems a rarity these days, a casualty of the times in which we live, for we live in a world filled with lies, in a  world under the sway of the father of lies. Yet we should not be surprised or discouraged for the Truth has come and we are heirs of His righteousness. The Lord sent His Son that we might know the truth and the truth would set us free from sin and death, for to know the truth is to know the Lord and the One He sent, full of grace and truth. And now the Spirit of Truth has come, the power of God unto righteousness. Let us pray and listen to the Holy Spirit. Let us boldly proclaim the truth and glorify God.

May the Holy Spirit speak truth into your life and lead you into righteousness.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Thessalonians:

Old Man Praying“But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.”   (2 Thess. 3:13)

Serving can often be tiring, for the Lord has sent us out to the lost and dying to preach the gospel and draw people to His love and grace, to shepherd His sheep and to make disciples, but people can so easily disappoint us at times. They listen but they do not hear; they say they believe but their lives don’t change; they can appear faithful, then get swept away by sin. If we take this burden upon ourselves, it can make one weary of heart and tired to the bone, but it is not our burden to bear alone, and it is not in our strength that we are to serve. The Lord calls us to be faithful in service and to share the good news, but our strength is to come from Him, for it is the Lord alone who is our strength and our salvation.

May the Lord bless you to find your strength in Him and in His goodness.
