Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 09/08/13

This week’s scripture is from 1 Samuel:

Man holding arms up in praise against a sunburst“… consider what great things he has done for you.”   (1 Samuel 12:24b)

We go to the Lord with our prayers and petitions; we approach Him with thanksgiving and praise. When a crisis arises or when misfortunate or illness or troubles come upon us, we turn to Him and cry out — and well we should, for the scriptures tell us we should do these things, especially if we belong to Him, if we are His; it is what He wants us to do, and what He expects us to do.

The Lord wants us to turn to Him in every circumstance, every day of our lives, for He is our heavenly Father and we are His children. But we should also “consider what great things” he has done for us. Think about all He has done for you in your life. Think about the love He has lavished upon you, and of His wonderful mercies, seen and unseen. He is a great and loving and generous God. Blessed be His name.

May your heart rise up and your lips praise the Lord for all He has done for you.
