Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 07/14/13

This week’s scripture is from Ezekiel:

Ezekiel -- Valley of Dry BonesAnd He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”

Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.'”  (Ezekiel 37:3-5)

In empty times our lives can feel like dead, dry bones. What once was so alive and vibrant in us has somehow become lifeless, and no matter how we strive or how much we call out, we seem to be sitting in a desert so dry that perhaps even our tears are gone, and we can barely speak of our dryness. Hope has abandoned us, and though we put on a good face, inside we are feeling dry and empty, and we are just going through the motions of life. We may wonder, where is God?

Yet God never abandons us. Even if we can’t feel He is there, He is. God always has a way when there seems no way; God always has a plan when it seems impossible that anything can succeed or change. God always wants the best for us, regardless of our circumstances. He restores hope, but our hope lies not in ourselves, but in our Lord. With His breath He will restore us; His spirit will revive us. What was dry, brittle, or dead in your life will be alive in the Lord. The word of the Lord is life. New live He will give you.

May the Lord fill you with hope, and may you live in Him.
