Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/25/12

November 26, 2012

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”  (Psalm 95:1-2)

Let us come before the Lord with joy and thank Him for His many blessings, especially in this season of thanksgiving. Count your blessings, for they are many; we cannot even name them all for some are mercies unseen. Lift your heart and sing, shout aloud, for the Lord blesses His children with an abundance of grace and love; He provides for every need for He is good. Thank Him for His goodness; thank Him for His righteousness; thank Him for sending His son Jesus Christ that we might know His saving grace. Let us bow our hearts to our LORD and savior and praise His holy name. Thank you, Lord.

May thanksgiving pour from your heart as you lift up the Lord in praise.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/18/12

This week’s scripture is from John:

“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…”   (John 6:44)

We can save no one; we have not the power to save a single soul. Only God can save. We can only serve as witnesses to the truth of Jesus Christ. It is useless to engage in debates and disputes with the unsaved. No one can be reasoned or argued into faith in Christ. A soul can only be won if drawn to Christ by the Holy Spirit. We are charged to share the truth and pray for others; that is our faithful service. All else is a chasing after the wind. Yet if we are faithful to witness to the truth of Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit will bring in the souls He has drawn. It is not ours to save others; it is ours to be faithful witnesses.

May the Lord bless you to be a faithful witness to Jesus Christ each and every day.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”
   (Psalm 112:6b-7)

Sometimes we can make no sense of the things that happen in life, to ourselves or to others, or even to our nation. We seek to see where God is in our circumstances, or wonder what we can do about them. We despair of the sudden dark turn of events. But take heart, though He allows such things to come upon us, God is still with us. Renew yourself in pray and with hope. He foresaw this day before we were born, yet we were born for this time. He told us that as the time drew near we would return to the days of Noah, so be strong in the Lord and lean upon Him. Be faithful and remain in the truth. Continue to gather together and worship; witness and call upon the Lord, for He is our loving Father, ever faithful, ever true.

May God’s blessings be upon you as you remain steadfast trusting in the Lord.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Corinthians:

“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all…”         (1 Cor.12:4-7)

God gives wonderful gifts to His children; every son and daughter born of the Spirit has been given gifts with which to minister, to bless others, and to bring glory to God. Each is different, each is special and carefully given, each ministers in its own way, yet the Spirit is always one and the same. We minister best when we minister in the gifts that God has given us, for then it is through the power of the Holy Spirit and not of ourselves that we do God’s will and show God’s love. Praise God for His wonderful gifts; use the gifts He has given at every opportunity; hone the gifts into an instrument of His grace that they might be used to witness, to bring knowledge, to bring healing, to bring truth and faith, to bring Christ to a dying world.

May the Lord bless you with opportunities to use your gifts for His glory.
