Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 08/26/12

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
   (Psalm 18:1-2)

Oh, what a Savior!  Our Lord is everything, everything we need or ever will need. When we have no strength, He is our strength; when we cannot stand, He is our rock, our foundation, a fortress against the forces that come against us. When we could not deliver ourselves from sin and death eternal, He came as our deliverer to free us from sin and death, to give us life eternal. What a magnificent God is our God! He shields us in the day of battle; He is our strong salvation; He is our Lord, God Almighty, in whom we trust. Blessed be the name of our Lord God!

May your love for the Lord be your strength as you trust in Him.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness…”  (Psalm 107:21a)

God is good, and everything about God is good. He cannot do but good for goodness is His very nature. All He has created is good, and God’s goodness flows from His throne of grace. God is good; there is no other like God, rich in mercy, patient and long-suffering, pouring out His blessings, showing love and kindness to each generation. He is wrapped in goodness like a cloak; it radiates from His very being. God is good, for He is trustworthy and true; He sent His son to redeem us, to bring His goodness to us, that His grace and mercy might save us, for His goodness overcomes evil and is a shield about us. Give thanks to God for His great goodness; praise Him for His is good, and His goodness lasts forever.

May the goodness of the Lord rise up in your heart and fill your mouth with thanks and praise.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Praise the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!”
    (Psalm 150:1-2)

How blessed we are to be children of the Most High God. Praise the Lord! How blessed we are to have received His saving grace. Praise God! How blessed we are that His Son, Jesus Christ, died for us, for our salvation. Praise the Lord on High. How blessed we are to have forgiveness of our sins through the blood of Christ. Praise His Holy name. How blessed we are to have been set free from sin and death. Praise the Lord Most High. How blessed we are that the Son of God sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. Praise the Lord! How blessed we are to inherit eternal life. Praise Him!

May the praises from your lips rise up to the Throne of Grace as you remember His blessings.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Timothy:

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone… This is good, and pleases God our Savior,  who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”    (1 Tim. 2:1,3-4)

It is a blessing to pray for others, to intercede for them with the Lord, for no good thing happens in ministering before the Lord, especially for others, that does not first start with prayer, for prayer is the power, the direct line to the Lord. We are our brother’s  keeper; we are one body in Christ; we are His hands; we are His witnesses. Let us come before the Lord Our Maker, Our Savior, and pray for the needs of others, intercede for them with the Father, and in thanksgiving ask the Lord of Hosts to save souls, to be servants of the truth of Jesus Christ in a lost and dying world. In all this, let us speak the truth in love.

May the Lord be pleased with your requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving for others.
