Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 07/29/12

July 30, 2012

This week’s scripture is from 1 Peter:

“If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”           (1 Peter 4:11)

God is the one who calls us to minister, but it is only with the skills that He has gifted us that ministry is possible and fruitful. On our own we can do little that will bear fruit or count for Christ, for what can we do without Christ when it is for Him that we minister and from Him that ministry has the holy power to change hearts and lives. It is for His glory and only His glory, for it is in and by His authority that ministry happens, and by His grace that men and women are led to Him and to the Father, unto salvation. Let us be thankful for the gifts of ministry He has gifted us with, and let us use them to His glory.

May the Lord bless you to use the gifts He has given you to minister for His kingdom.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
(Psalm 91:1)

The Lord takes care of His own. If we stay close to Him, if we stay under the shelter of His wings, if He is our refuge and our strength, then He will protect us and take care of us, for nothing can snatch us from His grasp, nothing can separate us from His charge over us. Though all manner of trouble or turmoil may rise against us, though Satan sting us with his fiery arrows, we can rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior if we will remain under His shadow, if we will seek out the abiding place of His love and mercy where the presence of the Almighty reigns to which He calls His own to dwell with Him and find peace.

May you be blessed to dwell in the shelter of the Lord Almighty and find rest.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“God looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.”
    (Psalm 53:2)

It is God’s intent that we seek after Him, for His word says to seek Him first, His kingdom, and His righteousness and all we need will be given to us. We are to seek and continue seeking; we are to knock and keep knocking. The Lord awards our persistence by letting us enter in to His presence and rewarding us with all the blessings He has for us. It is not for His sake that He calls to us to come to Him, but for ours. It is His desire to be the Lord of our lives in every way and in every aspect, for there is no better place for us to be but with the Lord. Remember to seek Him out, to pursue the One who loves us, for He wants to be found; He wants to be known; He wants his sons and daughters by His side.

May your heart yearn every day for the fellowship of the Lord who loves you.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“In You, O Lord, I put my trust;”

”Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the LORD.”
    (Psalm 31:1, 24)

As troubles and trials rise against us or our loved ones, hardship on this side and illness on that side, our hearts may grow weary within us, but remember Him in whom our hope rests for we can always trust in the Lord to strengthen us. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. Remember Him who stays closer than a brother and call on His name, for He is our strength; He lifts us up and sets our feet upon solid ground; He is our foundation, our Lord and our Savior, our Hope and our Trust. Praise the Lord, and call on His name, for He is there, and His love is strong.

May the Lord bless you to find your strength in Him.

This week’s scripture is from Galatians:

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”    (Gal. 5:1)

We are meant to be free in Christ. The world and sin seek to entangle us, but in Christ we are free of the curse of sin and death. If we walk in repentance, if we walk in His grace, if we walk in the Holy Spirit, without compromise, then we will walk in freedom, and that freedom sets us free to serve others, to minister as He gives us liberty in the leading of His Holy Spirit. Christ sets captives free; hold fast to Him and lean not on the things of this world, for this is not our home. Take His yoke upon you; be yoked to Christ and Christ alone. Stand fast, stand firm, stand in Christ.

May the Lord bless you to remain free in Christ and in the liberty of the Holy Spirit.
