Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 06/24/12

This week’s scripture is from Zechariah:

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’  Says the Lord of hosts.”  (Zechariah 4:6b)

The Lord has done great things, but try as we might, we can do little of the Lord’s work on our own, in and of ourselves. We can strive heartily and spend hundreds of hours and use a great deal of money and resources in our efforts creating plans and programs to advance the Kingdom of God. Yet it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that the Lord’s work is accomplished. We cannot force the hand of God. Unless the Spirit moves, nothing significant, nothing lasting, will happen. Wait upon the Spirit and be prepared. If the Holy Spirit is at work then the work cannot fail, but without the Spirit we can bear little fruit.

May the Lord bless you with readiness at the move of His Holy Spirit.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture…” (Psalm 95:6-7)

Worship the Lord; Come let us worship the Lord. In the midst of everything, in the midst of every trial, in the midst of every triumph, in the midst of suffering, in the midst of joy, worship the Lord; praise Him in every circumstance. Let us never fail to bow before Him and lift His holy name from our lips, for He is our God, our Father, and we are his children. Draw near to Him; find peace in His presence. Worship and pray. Let worship flow from your heart and soul to the splendor of His holiness.

May your heart and lips overflow with worship as you praise the Lord.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
               (Psalm 23:6)

When you belong to the Lord, all that He has belongs to you. When you abide in Him, He watches over you; He guides you; He directs your steps; He walks with you through all adversity; He comforts you in times of suffering; He protects you from evil; He restores your soul. His goodness and His mercy are never far from us, and the greatest goodness and the greatest mercy the Lord has given us is His son Jesus Christ, from whom we have received salvation and life eternal, and who has gone to prepare a place for us where we will dwell with the Lord forever. Praise God for His goodness and mercy.

May the Lord extend His goodness and mercy to you each and every day.

The week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”     (2 Cor. 13:14)

We know that it is only by God’s unmerited favor and compassion shown to us through His son Jesus Christ that we are forever saved. Because of His ever-loving kindness and mercy, in spite of this fallen world, in spite of ourselves, God gives us grace. He shows us His love through the sacrifice of His one and only son; such love is sacrificial grace. To truly have love for and fellowship with others we must love others above ourselves: we must serve others without expectation of return; we must have the grace to love without being loved in return. Share His grace with those He sends you to, share His love and mercy.

May the Lord give you the gift of being able to be gracious and loving to all around you.
