Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 03/25/12

March 27, 2012

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”
(Psalm 19:14)

The Word says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, and God desires a willing and a humble heart. Subject your heart to the Lord. Let your heart be true in Christ and speak the truth in love. Speak with a pure heart and let your words be a blessing, for the Word says that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Love God with all your heart; praise Him with your lips; lift your voice. Let your heart rejoice in the Lord and be glad, for our strength is in Him.

May your mouth overflow with praise to the Lord and may He bless you abundantly.

This week’s scripture is from John:

“Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”        (John 7:37b-38)

It is good to thirst for the Lord, to desire Him like a dry land desires the rain, to seek after Him with a longing heart, to want to drink-in His righteousness and water your weary soul. Pray that the Lord grant you favor to be thirsty for Him, to seek Him each morning, and in every circumstance, not to stand against the challenges of life alone, not to try to stand in your own strength, but to go to Him first, to drink deep of His Holy Spirit, to go to the Living Water, for when we are filled, then the Living Water will flow out of us and the Spirit of Truth will bring life and life abundant into every person and every situation.

May the Lord make you thirsty for Him, each and every day, in every circumstance.

This week’s scripture is from James:

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”    (James 5:13-16)

Prayer is powerful, and the Lord is mighty. Let us not hold back, but in the power and the might of the Lord pray boldly, pray strong, pray in tongues with thanksgiving and supplication, for the Lord Jesus makes intercession for us with the Father, God Almighty. Pray in the name Jesus Christ, pray in the power of His blood, death, and resurrection. Pray for healing and there will be healing; pray against suffering and suffering will cease; pray against sins and they will be forgiven; pray for salvation and salvation will come. Pray against the darkness and the light of Christ will destroy the darkness. Pray the Word of God; pray in the Holy Spirit. Pray in the power of His righteousness.  Pray and keep praying.

May the Lord bless you to pray and may He make your prayers bold through Christ.

This week’s scripture is from Job:

“… by his light I walked through darkness!”    (Job 29:3b)

We are witnesses: the news is full of strife and trouble; darkness presses in; the world groans; our hearts grow weary within us. Illness and oppression dog our walk; suffering and pain inhabit our days. But there is One who stays closer than a brother! Let us remember Him who is our Light and our Salvation, the Lord Almighty, for in Him there is no darkness, and before Him darkness flees. We need not fear the darkness when we walk in the Light of the Lord, for His word is a lamp unto our feet, and His light opens a path before us. Sing praise to God Almighty. Thank Him for sending the light. Thank Him for  Jesus Christ, His son.

May the Lord bless you to walk in the light when darkness comes.
