Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 11/6/11

This week’s scriptures are from Psalms:

“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?

Or who may stand in His holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart …” (Psalm 24:3-4a)

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”    (Psalm 51:10)

Though we live in a fallen world, we are called to be righteous, we are called to be pure, we are called to be holy as He is holy. Yet we know how
impossible this is for us to do. We struggle against sin, but sin abounds; we try to separate ourselves from the world, but the world intrudes. We may despair, but God knows our heart; He calls us to repentance, to be cleansed, for we cannot be clean without God; we cannot be pure without God. We cannot be righteous; we cannot be holy without God. It is only by His grace that we are saved and only by His favor that we can live righteously, pure, and holy. Thank God, for He cares for you.

May the Lord bless you anew with a clean heart and a steadfast spirit.
