Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 09/25/11

This week’s scripture is from Nehemiah:

“Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.”                 (Nehemiah 4:17b-18a)

Across the land, around the world, spiritual warfare is increasing. The enemy is stepping up his assaults. But this is not a time to draw back. In Nehemiah the Lord has instructed us how to take on the enemy in times of opposition: build with one hand and fight with the other. So take up the armor of God; strap on the sword of the spirit. Send forth the word and cut down the enemy’s strongholds. Set watchmen on the walls and carry on the work of the Lord. Keep building and fighting until He returns, for the battle belongs to the Lord and He fights for us if we will stand and keep standing. Draw the sword; call on His name.

May the Lord bless you as you continue the good fight in the building of His kingdom.

This week’s scriptures are from Psalms and Zephaniah:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem …”  (Psalm 122:6)

“The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save …”
(Zephaniah 3:17)

The enemy rises up against us; nations rise against nations, but the God who called Abraham, the God who delivered Israel out of Egypt, the God who sent His son to die for us is not a God who will abandon His people. Though the sabers are rattling and the dogs of war are howling to cut loose, the Lord has already spoken. His people know: This is the time to call out to God, to pray for the peace of Jerusalem; this is the time to pray for His people Israel wherever they may be, for we are His people, we are His handiwork, we belong to Him, and He is mighty to save, mighty to save.

May God bless you as you pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for His people Israel.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”    (Hebrews 4:16)

Unrighteousness rises around us and the world spins in turmoil; wickedness spreads its darkness and our hearts grow faint within us. Troubles assault us: illness and hardship come upon us; our strength is spent and weariness takes its toll. There is only one place to turn, and that is to the throne of grace, for He and He alone is our supplication and our strength. His love and mercy, through our Lord Jesus Christ, overcomes all the attacks against us and His grace abounds in our time of need. Let us bow down and worship Him who came to set us free that we might receive His mercy and grace.

May the Lord bless you this day as you kneel before His throne of grace and humble your heart.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,

who daily bears our burdens.”

Selah

“Praise be to God,

who has not rejected my prayer

or withheld his love from me!”   (Psalm 66:20)

It is good to praise the Lord. Let us remember to praise our God and Savior, for He takes care of us — if we will let Him. Remember to pray, for He will take up our burdens, He will lead us and guide us in all things and through every situation, He will provide for every need if we will only praise Him and pray and call upon His name. He is gracious with us and His love never fails; no good thing does He withhold from those who belong to Him and sing His praises. Praise Him who created heaven and earth; praise Him who sent His son
for us; praise Him who forgives us and loves us; praise the Lord God Most High.

May your heart be full and may your voice rejoice in praising the Lord.
