Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 06/26/11

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
   worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.”
 (Psalm 29:2)

Set your eyes upon the Lord. Look to Him. Our primary focus should be worshipping the Lord, praising Him and giving glory to His name. We get distracted by the world and by troubles; we even get distracted by serving the Lord and doing ministry, yet the Word commands us that we are first to seek and worship the Lord … and then all else will follow. This is the way it works in heaven and is to be the way it works on Earth, if we will be obedient instead of busy. The angels in heaven sing “Holy, holy, holy” and give Him glory, and everything the Lord wishes to accomplish is accomplished. He will work all things through us if we let Him. Start by worshipping the Lord and giving Him glory, and see what He will do through you.

May your lips fill with praise and worship each day as you give Him glory.

This week’s scripture is from Ephesians:

Finally, [brethren] be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm …     (Ephesians 6:10-14a)

Be ready. A world of troubles is rising against the people of God, but Jesus Christ our Lord does not leave us unarmed against the enemy of our souls. His blood covers us; his spirit reigns. He bids us to take up arms against the darkness, and to armor ourselves against the powers against us, against the rise of evil, for our strength is not in ourselves but in the Lord, and He commands us to stand in the face of evil and fight with every means He has given us, to stand firm and speak the truth in love to a dying world. Time to armor up and call on the Lord, for the day He spoke of is here. Pray, pray, and continue to pray.

May the spirit of the risen Lord raise you victorious in battle with the enemy.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”     (Romans 5:5)

Trials and tribulations seem to multiply. At times we are weary and our hearts grow heavy, but if we look to this world for hope, we will be disappointed for it is fallen and passing away. Let us remember Him in whom we trust for He does not disappoint but pours out His love upon us and strengthens us through His Holy Spirit. It is good to know that we are no longer citizens of this world but we have a heavenly home set aside for us if we belong to Jesus, for He is our blessed hope, our shield, and our deliverer. In Christ, and Christ alone, lies our hope. Let hope abound in your heart that Christ might be glorified.

May the love of God assure you this very day of the hope we have in Christ Jesus.

This week’s scripture is from Luke:

“… make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”   (Luke 1:17b)

The coming of the Lord draws closer. The world groans with conflict and trembles in anticipation. Yet where are the people? Do they languish in the pews and suck up the milk of truth like babes? Or do they go out as servants, equipped and hardened for battle? Time has come and time is past; prepare the people for what is coming before the coming of the Lord. It is time to put on the full armor of God and draw the sword, the Word of God, for the war is come upon us. Teach them how to pray, how to fight on bended knees against all the attacks of the enemy. Go!  Prepare your people; prepare your people!

May the Lord bless you to train up the people to be mighty in spirit and deed. It is time.
