This week’s scripture comes from 1 Corinthians:

For … the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood [which is shed for you]. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”             (1 Cor. 11:23-25)

Jesus said there is no greater love, no greater sacrifice, than that one lay down his life for another. Let us therefore give thanks for those who sacrificed themselves that we might be free, that we might live in the light of His word. Let us remember our Lord Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that we might know Him and the beauty of His grace, for through Him we are reconciled unto God our Father.

With thankful hearts, let us break bread together in His name, and, with repentant hearts, take up the cup of salvation in remembrance of Him who suffered and died for us that we might receive the blessing of eternal life. Praise God that He sent His Beloved Son, and bless His holy name.

May the sacrifice and blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ be yours this very day.

This week’s scripture is from Galatians:

“Let us not become weary in well doing, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”    (Gal. 6:9-10)

It is so easy to become weary. The world wears on us; work seems never ending; one task is barely done before another takes its place. Everything clamors for our attention and the grind becomes so tiresome. At times we long to let it be enough, to walk away, to answer no more calls.

But take heart, brethren; the One who called is true. He never fails; He is there to buck us up. He is our strength and our shield; armor up and take up the sword; His battle is already won. Don’t stop or turn back. Cry, “Victory!” and go into the fields where He has sent you. Speak love into them that you meet and bless all of them who believe. Speak the name of Him who sent you and declare the love of God.

May the Lord bless you with strength and empower you to speak the Word in love this very day.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

In You, O LORD, I put my trust;

For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
         You are my trust from my youth.

… I will hope continually,
         And will praise You yet more and more.
   (Psalm 71:1, 5, 14)

Where does our hope lie? In a moment, life changes. What was is gone. We look at the news reports and despair, straining to hear any good news, for the people trust in vain that something in this world will save them or keep them safe. Their hearts ride on waves of disappointment as each good thing is dashed by destruction. Hope wanes, for there is no certainty or safety apart from Christ. Only the good news of Jesus Christ prevails; only the gospel shines out of the darkness. Only in Christ alone can we put our trust; only He is worthy. Praise Him and lift up His name, for He is our Light and our Salvation.

May the God of all hope bless you as you trust in Him.

This week’s scriptures come from Genesis and Psalms:

“I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant…”  (Genesis 32:10a)

“I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised…”    (Psalm 18:3a)

Despite our best efforts and intentions, we still seem to stumble in our walk and service to the Lord. Sin lies in wait for us; Satan easily trips us up. It is humbling to be reminded that our strength is not sufficient, and we are not worthy of Him who has called us. But He is worthy! Thank God! Thank God! Thank God! He is worthy! The Lord is worthy and worthy to be praised, for He is our strength and our redeemer, without whom we are lost and blind. Only the blood of Jesus Christ shed for us allows us to stand against all that comes against us. Only His blood washes away our sins and allows us rise up to speak the truth. Praise God; He is worthy.

May the mercies of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only worthy Son of God, bless you again and again.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews:

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.”      (Hebrews 4:9-10)

How weary we can become from work and the cares of this world. There are times when the most spiritual thing we can do is to rest. Indeed, the scriptures tell us that to rest is a commandment from God, just as He rested we are to cease from our work and rest. We are not even to do “Godly” work on the Sabbath, but we are to rest in Him. God blesses those He loves with rest, if they will obey His command; Jesus promises us rest from weariness and that which burdens us if we trust in Him, for we cannot enter into the Lord’s rest unless we cease from striving and rest ourselves. Trust Him, rest and be refreshed.

May the Lord bless you with rest and good sleep.
