Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 02/27/11

February 28, 2011

This week’s scripture is from John:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.      (John 14:6)

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.                    (John 14:27)

How often our hearts are troubled within us, for we live in a troubled world full of strife and suffering. Yet in the midst of trouble Jesus promises us peace, for Jesus provides the way to peace. Because of His sacrifice for us, because of His death and resurrection, we have peace with God, and that, and that alone, can bring peace to our hearts. Because He lives, we believe and have life eternal. So let us turn our eyes upon Jesus and praise God for His goodness. Let us lift up the One who makes our hearts glad and rejoice in Him who is Lord and Savior, the Prince of Peace.

May the peace of Jesus Christ reign in your heart this day and each day as you turn to Him.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“You make known to me the path of life;
   you will fill me with joy in your presence,
   with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
   (Psalm 16:11)

How beautiful it is to spend time in the presence of our Lord; what surpassing joy!  What a blessing just to sit in His presence. The troubles and turmoil of the world try to overwhelm us, but in His presence there is peace. Out of His presence there is darkness, but in His presence there is light. Without Him we lose our way, but in His presence the path of life shines before us pointing the way. Come, take time today, and each day, to spend time in the presence of our Lord, for He is jealous for you and wishes to bless you.

May the Lord grant you the blessing of spending time in His presence today.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love,
   for they are from of old.
 Do not remember the sins of my youth
   and my rebellious ways;
  according to your love remember me,
   for you, LORD, are good.

 Good and upright is the LORD;
   therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
(Psalm 25:6-8)

Thank God for He is merciful; how great His love is for us. We were lost, and though we are sinners, by His grace He remembers our sins no more. Though our hearts are rebellious and deceitful, He has forgiven our rebellious youth and our wicked ways. Through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, His love has set us free from sin and death; He leads us in His way, the way everlasting unto eternal life. Let us ever thank the Lord for His mercy and His love to us through Jesus Christ. Let the testimony of our lives draw others to the loving-kindness and mercy of the Lord.

May the Lord’s mercy and love cover you this day in His righteousness.

This week’s scripture is from 1 Chronicles:

Look to the LORD and his strength;
   seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,
   his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced…
                               (1 Chron. 16:11-12)

God is great; God is good. The world is troubled; the trials of life come against us, but God is faithful. When we are weak, He is strong. When we cry out, He is there. Let us look to the Lord and remember that our God is a miracle-working God. When there is no way, He makes a way. He moves and miracles happen; the Word is spoken and bodies are healed, souls are delivered, those in bondage are set free. Jesus came that we might know Him and blessings of His love. He pours out His grace upon us, for He loves us. We are witnesses to the wonders of His mercy and love, that we might proclaim Him.

Seek the Lord and may the miracles of God’s blessings be upon you this day.

Testimonies: Her brain tumor was inoperable; God touched her and she was healed. The pastor was gasping for breath, dying, and passed into sleep; but he awoke alive and well. She left the hospital, dying of leukemia, given no hope this side of heaven, but believed God and was healed. Two women tormented by demonic spirits set free by God’s intercession. A boy’s tear duct severed in an accident believed in Jesus and was healed. A man addicted, repents and is set free.  God is a god of miracles.
