Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 01/30/11

January 31, 2011

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“But I trust in your unfailing love;
   my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the LORD’s praise,
   for he has been good to me.”
(Psalm 13:5-6)

Our troubles may at times seem overwhelming, but we can trust in the Lord to save us, for it is His love for us that is our strength, a love greater than the greatest problems, a love that overcomes every attack of the enemy, a love that has defeated even death and brings eternal life in Christ Jesus. “It is so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take him at his word,” says the old song, and so true it is. Let your heart rejoice at His matchless love for you; trust in Him and sing praises to His name for He will deliver you; He will be good to you, for no good thing will He withhold from those who love Him and are called by His name.

May the blessings of the Lord be upon you as you trust and praise Him this day.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Thessalonians:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”       (2 Thess. 2:16-17)

God of all grace and God of all mercy, thank you for your eternal blessings; thank the Lord for He and He alone is the lifter of our head, for He and He alone is our strength, for He and He alone is our hope –  through the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. How great a savior is our Lord!  How great are His blessings!  May His love and grace empower you in every act and in every spoken word, all for His glory, today, tomorrow, and forever.

May the God of grace and the God of glory strengthen you today in faith, mercy, and hope.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

Praise the LORD, O my soul;
       all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the LORD, O my soul,
       and forget not all his benefits–

who forgives all your sins
       and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit
       and crowns you with love and compassion…
(Psalm 103:1-4)

These days we seem to be engaged continually in spiritual warfare, and casualties abound. Though we may despair and our hearts fail within us, the Lord is there. Praise God Almighty. When deep calls out to deep, when our soul cries out to Him, He is there. Praise his holy name. When darkness, sin, or disease comes again us, when the mouth of the pit looms before us, He is there. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord who wraps us in His love and ever-lasting kindness, for He is our redeemer and our salvation.  Praise his holy name.

May the Lord of life and all goodness bless you as you praise his holy name.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

Holy Scripture is a gold mine that never stops producing; it is a well that never runs dry. It forever flows with heavenly riches and living water. Sometimes it is difficult to hear the Lord speak to us, but his Word ever speaks to us of God’s love, mercy, and grace, and of the hope found in Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Thank God; how precious is His Word. Remember each day to drink heavily from the Word that it might overflow in your life—producing fruit and new growth.

May Christ Jesus, the living Word, encourage you and fill you with hope and joy.

This week’s scripture is from Genesis:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”    (Genesis 1:1-3, 31)

God is good, and all He does is good. He was in the beginning, and by His Word everything that is or ever will be came into existence. He spoke into that which was empty and dark, and there was light dispelling the darkness, just as Jesus, the Living Word, then came into this sin-darkened world and brought the light of salvation. Everywhere the light of God’s word goes, the darkness is dispelled and God’s goodness breaks into the light. Praise God for sending the light into our lives.

May the light of God’s word continue to shine in your life, as you share it with others.
