Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 07/25/10

July 26, 2010

This week’s scripture is from Habakkuk:

[In time of trouble] “yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
       I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign LORD is my strength…”   (Habakkuk 3:18-19)

The Lord is our strength. Regardless of troubles, regardless of the trials we face, regardless of what we see happening in the world around us, the Lord requires only that we be faithful, and trust in Him, for He is sovereign. Let us lift up our heads, lift up our voices, and rejoice in Him, in God our Savior. All that is here is temporal, lacking strength, but God is eternal; He never fails; He is victorious. Let us call on the Lord and rejoice in Him. Praise Him, praise Him.

May the Lord give you strength as you rejoice in Him, as you call upon His name.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

“The LORD is my strength and my shield;
         My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
         Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
         And with my song I will praise Him.”
(Psalm 28:7)

As we face the challenges that each day brings, as we struggle to overcome, let us remember Him who is our strength, and turn to Him, for it is the Lord who can give us the strength we lack and shield us from the attacks of the enemy. He can help us even when we are powerless to help ourselves. When there is no other way, He is the way. Let His way be our way; let our heart always remember to trust in Him, for His love never fails. With each new challenge let us remember to turn to Him first.

May the Lord bless you with His strength and may your heart rejoice in song and praise.

This week’s scripture is from Psalms:

It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
         And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
To declare Your loving-kindness in the morning,
         And Your faithfulness every night…
(Psalm 92:1-2)

Let us give thanks to the Lord; let our lips be full of praise; let our voices exalt His Holy name, for the Lord is good to us. He blesses us each morning; His ever-loving kindness overflows to us. Whenever we need Him, He is there; whatever we need, He provides. He sent His Son that we might know Him and the fullness of His grace; He sent His Holy Spirit that we might live the revelation of His word. His faithfulness is steadfast and true. God blesses us every day. Let us praise the Lord for His love and faithfulness.

May your heart sing praises to the Lord and your lips praise His Holy name each day.

This week’s scripture is from 2 Corinthians:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”     (2 Cor. 3:17)

Freedom is a blessing and a wonderful gift, but as we celebrate our freedom, let us remember who it is that actually makes us free. Our freedom is in the Lord, for freedom is not of man but in Him who came to save us. Jesus said He came to set the captives free, and those He sets free are free indeed, for it is the Spirit of the Lord that frees us from sin and bondage and gives us eternal life. And in that freedom we are transformed into Christ’s likeness, into His glory, free in the Spirit of the Lord. Praise God for He is good.

May the Spirit of the Lord be upon you this very day, and may His glorious freedom be in you.

This week’s scripture is from Deuteronomy:

“But if … you seek the LORD your God, you will find him….  For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you…”  (Deut. 4:29,31)

Look to God. Let hope abound in us, for the Lord loves us and watches over us; let us thank God for His great mercies toward us. Regardless of the circumstances or situations we are facing, God never fails us; He does not abandon us. Each and every morning He faithfully sends His compassions to us that we might be comforted, that we will remember and have hope. Praise God for His mercy.

May the Lord bless you with His mercy and compassion each day, in every situation.
