Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 05/30/10

May 31, 2010

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”                      (Romans 5:1-2)

How good is God: Let us rejoice that though we were once wanderers and enemies of God that through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ we now have peace with God, and that by that same faith we live under His grace. How great is the love of God towards us that through His Son we can rejoice in the assurance of the “hope of the glory of God,” now and unto eternal life. Let us praise the Lord for reconciling us to God and bringing us peace.

May the peace of God that comes through faith be with you each day in every circumstance.

This week’s scripture is from Colossians:

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding…”    (Col. 1:9)

What a great blessing is prayer: Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed about everything in every circumstance, and He prayed to His Father for others, resulting in healing and believing and faith. Let us be mindful to pray, but let us remember to also pray for and encourage each other in prayer. Pray that they come to know God’s will in whatever situation they face, that the wisdom of God be understood through the Holy Spirit, and that they receive the blessings of the Lord — each according to their need. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ; pray without ceasing, and know His blessing.

May the Lord bless you with prayers of faith and encouragement for the brethren.

This week’s scripture is from Lamentations:

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”    (Lam. 3:22-23)

Regardless of what we have done in the past or what the world has thrown at us, regardless of the evil or unrighteousness that rises against us, we can throw ourselves on the Lord’s mercy for His great love is always there for us. No matter how dark the night has been, every morning new mercies we see, for the Son of God is risen, for “great is thy faithfulness” of our Lord.  Thank the Lord for His loving-kindness.

May the mercies of the Lord attend your prayers each day and bring blessings to you.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”      (Romans 8:27)

Though at times our hearts are weary and heavy within us, and the cares of the world press upon us, and Satan rears his head, our Lord is not slow to bless us. If we open our hearts to Him, does He not hear us and intercede according to God’s good graces for us, for His will is perfect and His love is pure. Blessed be His name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me praise His holy name.

May you open your heart today to the One who loves you and be blessed by His grace.

This week’s scripture is from Romans:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”               (Romans 15:13)

In these last days our hearts may be heavy, but let us be mindful where our hope comes from, for He is faithful to all who trust in Him. He is our source of hope and all that is good, for by His Holy Spirit we carry the joy of the Lord within us. Blessed are they who rejoice in the Lord and who fill their days with the hope that lies in Christ Jesus. Let our hearts be at peace as we remember from whom our hope comes, for He who rules over our hearts is coming to rule over the nations.

May your heart overflow with hope and joy and peace as you trust in Him who is faithful.
