Strengthen and Encourage the Brethren 03/28/10

March 30, 2010

This week’s scripture is from John:

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the King of Israel!”

He is come, and we are blessed!  He is come that we might know Him and the beauty of His grace unto salvation. Our King did come and made himself lowly that at the proper time we might be lifted up by Him into heavenly places to stand before the throne of grace. Thank the Lord, God Almighty, that He sent his Son to save and to bless; praise his holy name. Let your prayers of praise and thanksgiving rise to Him with shouts of joy.

May the Lord bless you richly each day with His love and grace.

This week’s scripture is from Luke:

“It is written,” he said to them, ” ‘My house will be a house of prayer’…”  (Luke 19:46)

As always Christ is not only the author and perfecter of our faith but our example. In every circumstance, in every situation, Jesus prayed to His Father in heaven. He taught us not to rely on our own resources, but to bring every concern, every burden, before the Lord. Often He would withdraw to be alone with the Lord, to pray, to give Him glory. Let us remember to take everything in our lives before the Lord as well, for He cares for us, and only He can make a way where there is no way. The way is through prayer.

May the Lord bless you with a prayerful tongue and a thankful heart.

This week’s scripture is from Hebrews.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.… Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”   (Hebrews 12:2a,3)

I heard the Lord saying to persevere. So often we seem to be facing a headwind when it comes to ministry. Sin continually opposes the work of the Lord. It can sap our strength, but the Lord reminds us to keep our eyes upon Jesus, to keep looking to the One who is the very heart of our faith, for in Him we find our strength, in Him we find all we need. When we remember what He endured for us, we remember the race is already won, and when we keep our eyes upon Him we can do all things through Christ Jesus.

May the Lord bless you with His love and His strength each and every day.

This week’s scripture is from Isaiah:

“‘…with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,’ says the LORD your Redeemer.”   (Isaiah 54:8b)

Who is like the Lord? His mercies never end. No matter our circumstances, no matter the challenges before us, no matter what we’ve done or what has been done to us, no matter what arises or what falls, the Lord’s kindness to us through Jesus Christ is always there; His compassion made the way for our redemption in Him, and through Him to eternal life. How kind is our Lord. What a comfort.

May the Lord bless you this day with His kindness and His compassion in every circumstance.

This week’s scripture is from Luke:

“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’”    (Luke 17:5)

At times it seems that we do not have enough faith for what we are facing or what is coming against us, but thank the Lord Almighty that He is our strength, He is our provision, and He never abandons us. For He requires only faith as small as a mustard seed, and that we do whatever He has told us to do. When we are faithful in that, He does the rest, for we are but servants in the Master’s house, and our Master is always faithful to care for us.

Faith to you. May the blessings of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, be yours each and every day.
